North of SA: Hill Country Communities San Antonians Can’t Get Enough Of

It’s no secret that the Hill Country has become one of the most sought-after areas in the great state of Texas. And the area just north of San Antonio is no exception. With a prime location, gorgeous landscapes, sweeping views, and a top-rated school system, towns like Spring Branch, Bulverde, and Canyon Lake have become quite the hotspot for those looking to pack up and abandon city life and head out to the country.

While there are many master-planned neighborhoods offering modest homes and lots within the area, there are just as many high-acreage and upscale homes. With the sprawling landscape and fresh air, these large acreage properties make for a quiet, unmatched living experience.

So what is it about these communities that have people flocking to them? Here’s a look at each of them and the homes they have to offer.

Canyon Lake

“Who doesn’t like Canyon Lake?” asks Instagram user @lalaughatme.

Extending from the edges of its namesake waterway, Canyon Lake is a widespread area boasting gorgeous views and incredible homes. While Canyon Lake (the body of water) is a well-known travel destination for local staycationers who want a place to relax on the lake, go swimming, or take the boat out for the weekend, it’s just as appealing to those who live in the Canyon Lake community.

Vintage Oaks, a neighborhood within the Canyon Lake community is a 3,300-acre master-planned residential community that promises gorgeous homes, natural amenities, and plenty of space to grow. Vintage Oaks has an incredibly wide selection of options available. Homesites range from 1 to 14 acres and typically begin in the upper $400,000s.

With plenty of land and a small community of residents, Spring Branch became a city at the tail end of 2015 and has been rising in popularity amongst those who aim to buy plots of land where their dream home will be built.

Originally settled by Germans in the 19th century, and named for the spring-fed creek that flows into the Guadalupe River, this town truly lives up to its refreshing name, combining tight-knit community with a distinct luxury culture. There are numerous neighborhoods that allow for private access to the Guadalupe River, however, this town’s population resides mostly within two communities.
